Why did you decide to start your business?
After graduating from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2008, I was a full-time painting instructor for several years, in which time I created several live paintings each week. When my brother got married in 2015, I created a painting of one of his wedding photos as a Christmas gift. I had so much fun that I decided to “marry” my live painting experience with the idea of painting weddings, and Event Painting by Jamie was born!

What makes your business unique?
Live painting itself is still a niche market, so the business is inherently a unique one. However, we want to change this uniqueness and ensure that every wedding has a live painter. We are passionate about bringing artistic expression to events of all shapes and sizes, and we have worked hard to establish ourselves as the most affordable live painting service in Florida.
What advice would you give couples who book a service like yours?
The questions we receive most often are about how long I stay to paint an event, and I am often asked if there is an added fee for me to paint throughout the duration of the event. I’m always excited to tell couples that all of our wedding packages include live painting throughout the entire event! It’s important for couples to keep in mind that live painters offer an entertainment component in addition to the final product of the painting itself, and hiring a live painter may lessen the need for extra entertainment services at your wedding. The entertainment aspect is my favorite part about live painting, as guests are able to watch the painting come alive throughout the evening!
What do you love most about working with couples?
For most couples, having a live painter capture their wedding on canvas is the only time they will ever experience live art. We are honored that so many couples value having an artistic interpretation of their big day, and I am so humbled by the idea that my work will be cherished as a family heirloom of the most special day in the couple’s lives.
