French Blue and White Lakeside Wedding at The Capen House

This Florida garden party-inspired wedding gave us all the springtime vibes with a wedding color palette of navy, french blue, sage and white. After an intimate church ceremony, the couple had their reception at The Capen House in Winter Park, Florida overlooking Lake Osceola. The lake also provided the perfect wedding grand exit for the newlyweds as they made their way out of the reception on a pontoon boat. Some of the favorite details of this wedding were the naked cake, signage, and of course the outfit change!

From Bride, Caroline:
For my dress, I knew I wanted something simple and classic – but I swore I’d never have a ballgown! Naturally, the second I put on my beautiful L’Amour Calla Blanche ballgown “just for fun” I knew it was the one. It had the simple and classic feel I was looking for, but the long train (my favorite part!) and gorgeous back gave it the perfect amount of elegance for our wedding! My bridesmaids looked beautiful wearing two different styles of Arctic Blue Sorella Vita dresses – the clean, simple lines were the perfect contrast to my big ballgown! Paul and his groomsmen all looked very sharp in their navy blue suits, which perfectly complemented our blue color scheme and casual vision for the day.

From Bride, Caroline:
Neither of us are late night people, so we quickly decided we wanted to have a day party for our wedding and reception! We wanted it to be casual but also elegant and classic, which we were able to achieve through the afternoon setting at the historic Capen House on beautiful Lake Osceola. The afternoon ended up being exactly what we had envisioned – our guests spent time shooting oysters, drinking margaritas, and dancing to our fabulous band.

What was your favorite part of the day?

From Bride, Caroline:
We both agreed that our favorite party of the day was how relaxed and confident we both felt all day long! Paul and I both hate being the center of attention and have a tendency to become stressed, so we were a bit nervous about how we might feel on our big day. But from the moment we woke up until the party finally stopped late that night, neither of us had an ounce of nerves! It was the most amazing feeling to have that level of confidence and ease about the whole day, as it really allowed us to enjoy every single moment.

One moment we were so glad we had was after our exit from the reception before going to the after-party. We exited our wedding on the boat from the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour, which was so unique and fun – the Boat Tour is one of our favorite activities whenever we’re in Orlando visiting my family. After we pulled away from the Capen House dock, our sweet boat driver took us on a peaceful 15 minute cruise around Lake Osceola. It was the first moment Paul and I had alone as husband and wife, and we loved every second of it! We were able to enjoy the sunset while sipping on our cocktails and reflecting on all the fun moments of the day so far. It was so special to have that time together!
