Lush Greenery Wedding at Historic Dubsdread

Becca and Johnny’s love story began a new chapter with a wedding full of greenery at the Historic Dubsdread in Orlando, Florida. Becca’s gown was light and airy with intricate beading throughout the bodice. Her bouquet featured proteas and thistles, along with ferns that complemented the foliage that surrounded them throughout the day. They sealed the deal with a beautiful ceremony at the Knowles Memorial Chapel, followed by portraits beneath the trees of Rollins College.

The reception at Dubsdread was uniquely decorated with potted and hanging plants, which gave the room a comfortable vibe. It felt like a home, and there’s a reason for that – the plants all came from the bride’s parents’ house, and each had special meaning! Candles and gold metallics completed the ambiance with strings of lights wrapped around the ceiling beams. After a night of dancing with their loved ones to music played by a live band, Becca and Johnny exited through lines of streamers!

From the bride:

We both love nature and are big fans of bringing the outdoors inside. We went for a laid back, greenery and plant-filled theme with a neutral color palette. The décor was almost entirely from my parents’ house and each piece had meaning.

For the Bride Tribe’s dresses, we selected our favorite color palette of natural hues and dreamy blues, all in flowy silhouettes. Each girl selected the color and dress style she loved the most. I love how they all came together as an eclectic, yet cohesive, mix; every dress represented each girl perfectly.

It was our own take on a DIY wedding. My amazing mom styled each table at the reception with a unique centerpiece filled with meaningful, eclectic décor and unique plants from my parents’ home. (I must say, she has fabulous decorating taste!)

My sister/MOH was also a huge part in planning the look and feel. She also created all the graphics (everything from custom stationery to ask my Bride Tribe, to the bridal shower signage and tags, to all of the day-of pieces including place cards/timeline and our seating chart.) She is amazing!

Our love story began at work back in 2012. On my first day, I remember seeing this cute guy during my office tour to meet my new coworkers. We skipped his desk since he was on a call, so I didn’t get to meet him. I was bummed. (I later learned he was bummed, too, and had tried to hang up his call in time to meet me.) Luckily, I ended up in the seat right behind him. By the end of the day, we finally got to talk. We have talked every day since.

After four amazing years of dating and adventures, he asked me to marry him! It was the easiest question I ever answered. We got married in July and are beyond excited to start this exciting next chapter together as husband and wife!
