One of our favorite things about weddings is when couples interject their personalities and/or heritage into their wedding. Sharon and Damien did just that. Their lakeside wedding at Paradise Cove in Orlando, Florida was inspired by the groom’s Hawaiian heritage. They added tropical elements like greenery, leis, and a ukulele musician. His mother even led a hula performance and invited bride Sharon to finish the dance with them during the reception!
From Bride, Sharon:
How did you meet?
“We went to the same high school so we knew of each other but it wasn’t until the last year of college when Damien started to follow me on Twitter. Who knew sliding in a DM would turn into a happily ever after.”
How did he propose?
“We went to Denver, Colorado over winter break on vacation. On Christmas morning in our Air BnB, Damien’s gift to me was an engagement ring. Right after, we walked around Washington Park all cuddled up on a snowy beautiful day.”
What advice would you give couples currently planning their wedding?
From Bride, Sharon:
“Create a timeline and do something relaxing the morning of the wedding so you can really soak in your special day and be fully present. My mother, maid of honor, mother-in-law, and sister in laws all joined me in a yoga class at the venue outside overlooking Lake Bryan.”
