Elegant Wedding at the Lake Mary Event Center

After meeting in a youth group at their church, Carlon and Sara's love blossomed which would lead to their elegant white wedding at the Lake Mary Event Center.

The day began with hair and makeup for Sara and her bridal party. As ceremony time approached, the couple took a moment to share a special first touch before walking down the aisle. The ceremony was set up on Lake Mary Event Center's lakefront lawn which provides stunning views of Crystal Lake. Sara's favorite part of the wedding day took place during the ceremony when she and Carlon took communion and their worship Pastor and Sara’s maid of honor led the song, O Come to the Altar by Elevation Worship.

The couple's celebration of their faith continued throughout the wedding. As guests walked into the reception space, they were asked to highlight and sign by their favorite Bible verse in lieu of a traditional guest book. Another one of the couple's favorite parts of their wedding was their table numbers. Instead of the traditional numbers, they asked for each guest at the table to leave a message for them that they would open on their corresponding anniversary year. With 28 tables, they will be reading sweet notes from their loved ones for years to come!

From Bride, Sara:

How did he propose?

Carlon's family would regularly take stay-cations to a resort in Orlando. There is a beautiful Oak Tree with lanterns that turn on at night. On several occasions, we would just go sit under the lanterns and talk, get box pizza and just sit there and eat it, or we just walked through to take in the scene. On Carlon’s parents anniversary weekend, he got his parents to get a hotel there so he could propose to me.

When the sun began going down and the lanterns turned on, Carlon was waiting for me at the lanterns, and proposed there. It was extremely important to me that my family was able to be there, so he had them hiding nearby so they could still witness the moment. I didn’t initially know they were there. When I realized this, I was so happy that I was able to celebrate with them.

From Bride, Sara:

What advice would you give couples who are planning their wedding?

We had a very short engagement, so deadlines were the most beneficial strategies that helped us stay on track. Communicate your ideas and feelings with your fiancé and try your best to stick to those deadlines

Is there any advice that you would give engaged couples about marriage?

"Above all, keep God at the center of your relationship. It’s not about me and more it’s about We. Never go to bed angry and always kiss goodnight, and say I love you." - Sara

"So much of relationships is about what the other person can give to you, or do for you. Marriage isn’t so much about finding the right person, its about being the right person. Focus on you and being the best spouse you can be. Make it a competition to out-serve one another!" -Carlon
