Star Wars Wedding at Cloak and Blaster

Jennifer and Michael wanted a wedding that was fun, relaxed, and that represented them as a couple. While searching for a wedding venue Jennifer got the idea of having it at one of their favorite hangouts called Cloak and Blaster. The couple had a Star Wars-themed wedding in mind, so it only made sense to get married on May the Fourth, the unofficial Star Wars Day!

Their decor was a dream for any Star Wars fan! Red is a big color of the Rebel Alliance and blue is associated with the Jedi Order. They used blue lights that outlined the aisle and the Rebel symbol hung off the wedding arch. To finish off their arch they used custom lightsabers (blue for Michael, purple for Jennifer). Jennifer ditched the ribbon-wrapped wedding bouquet and instead used a lightsaber holder to carry her wedding flowers. Her bridesmaid’s bouquet included the same pink, purple, and blue flowers as Jennifer’s, along with the addition of a rusty orange flower to symbolize an Ewok.  The men wore boutonnieres with a single flower and a Star Wars LEGO minifig.

The Star Wars wedding details did not end at the ceremony. Each table was its own “planet” with a coordinating terrarium centerpiece. These centerpieces consisted of flower arrangements were placed into bowls that were Star Wars characters. To add another element of fun, each table had giant “lightsaber” glow sticks! Cloak and Blaster has a tavern feel with big wooden tables and chairs that really pulled everything together. They didn’t feel the need to change any of the venue decors as they wanted to keep the comfortable feel of the venue intact.

Jennifer and Michael had a big hand in creating much of the decor, as did their friends and family. This was something that made their wedding feel very special to them. Everyone, including the venue, was completely on board with making their vision happen and they couldn’t be happier with how it turned out, though they wouldn’t have been sad if some Stormtroopers had shown up!

From Bride, Jennifer:

How did he propose?

It was a few days before Christmas and Mike made a treasure hunt type thing. I was searching around and the ring was hanging off a branch on the Christmas tree.

What was the best part of your wedding? Why?

I love that my family, our officiant, the employees of Cloak and Blaster and wedding party all theme dressed. To me, it was the cherry on top of the cake. It made it feel like a celebration! I also loved that R2D2 was our ring bearer. Everyone loved posing for pictures with him and he interacted with the ceremony making it really unforgettable!

From Bride, Jennifer:

What advice would you give other couples about the wedding planning process?

Figure out what each of your expectations are and try to meet in the middle. Communication is key in everything! Also, discount stores are amazing for crafting things if you’re making your own centerpieces.

Is there any advice that you would give engaged couples about married life?

Communication is so important! Being a team and supporting each other.
