Vibrant Fuchsia and Black Wedding at Lake Mary Event Center

This wedding’s style is so unique, and we love it! Katie drew inspiration from Kate Spade for her and Kellen’s summery, vibrant wedding at the Lake Mary Event Center in Lake Mary, Florida. Stripes and deep pinks ruled the day, from the reception table cloths to the florals, and even Katie’s wedding day look. Her Hayley Paige dress fit in perfectly with stripes that were subtle enough for a classic wedding, but noticeable enough to make a fantastic fashion statement. Her bridesmaids also got in on the action, with long black and white striped skirts!

Striped table runners decorated the reception linens, and place settings popped with pink napkins and centerpieces. After they canoodled during their lakeside portraits, Katie and Kellen celebrated on the dance floor with friends and family! See more about their love story and their special day with comments from the bride below.

From the Bride, Kaite:

Were there any special details and meaning behind those details in your wedding?
The actual day we had our wedding, July 22nd, 2016, was the biggest detail that was special. It represented our ten-year anniversary of dating! Also, we did have photos from our past when we were both kids and when we were dating. I feel those are really special because we have known each other since the first grade and started dating back in 2006 while we were still in high school. It shows that we have grown up with each other and helped shape each other’s lives as adults.

What was the best part of your wedding? Why?
Honestly, there was no specific part that was the best. It was all just so amazing! I will say though, our last dance was very special. It was just the two of us with no one else in the room, well except the photographers. It allowed us to reflect over the day and what an amazing wedding we had!

Advice from Katie, the bride:

Is there anything that you wish you would have done for your wedding?
There really isn’t anything I wish I would have done for my wedding. However, I wish for my bouquet that I found a place to preserve them! I didn’t know about this till after my wedding and it was too late to preserve the flowers. So I would suggest to all brides, find a place right away to preserve your bouquet!

What advice would you give other couples about the wedding planning process?
Definitely get a wedding planner! Having John Michael and his crew really helped tie everything together and make sure everything was in place. They were absolutely wonderful! Also, never wait last minute on anything. If you’re newly engaged, start gathering ideas and pictures of what you want right away! And figure out where you’re going to get married, as many of the venues can be booked a year or more in advance. That way, you don’t have to go with your second choice!

Advice from Katie, the bride:

Is there any advice that you would give engaged couples about married life?
Compromise! We didn’t live with each other before we got married and that was a huge adjustment since we are both very independent people! We both like to do things our own way and once you are married and are living together, you HAVE to compromise! Also, taking the time to listen to one another. You will both have many disagreements but taking the time to listen to each other’s reasoning will help you resolve the issue at hand.
