Back to the Future Inspired Wedding at Venue 1902

When you are big Back to the Future fans, you are going to theme your wedding after it! Casey and Justin have a passion for this classic movie as it was one of the first things they bonded over. They even opted to say their “I Dos” on November 12th, since it was the date in the film that lighting hit the clock tower.

For their reception at Venue 1902 in Sanford, FL, they used the 1950s Enchantment Under the Seas dance from Back to the Future as their inspiration. Ocean Hawks Rentals created an amazing structure with ocean-inspired decor over the dance floor. And the star of the wedding, right after a couple, of course, was a surprise guest appearance from a replica of the famous DeLorean itself.

Were there any special details and meaning behind those details in your wedding?

From Bride, Casey:
“Several! My wedding earrings were hand made by Lassoed Moon and were personalized to fit the theme of our wedding. Our wedding bands say “Here’s to Our Future” in the Back to the Future font and were handcrafted by Earth Art Gems. Our DJ, Brandon Lonza, worked with us to create the perfect 1955 prom playlist for the reception. Ocean Hawks created the most incredible décor for every part of our wedding. And, of course, Aleshia went out of her way and booked a DeLorean to make a surprise appearance for us!”

How did Justin propose?

From Bride, Casey:

“The way Justin proposed was…so perfect. Almost everywhere we have traveled, Justin and I have made sure to take pictures in photo booths. We have an entire collection of them from theme parks, museums, and different cities.

In December 2018, we planned a date day to go to Hollywood Studios to see the Christmas fireworks. Afterward, Justin said he wanted to walk over to the Boardwalk resort to go get a drink. When we walked over, he pulled me into the photo booth on the Boardwalk.

We had a standard series of poses we would do: pose 1, look at the camera and smile, pose 2: make a funny face, pose 3: act surprised, pose 4: kiss. Well, on this night, when I made my surprised pose, Justin pulled out the ring and I happened to notice right after the camera snapped. I said yes, and when we came out of the photo booth, several of our friends were waiting outside! We all went to celebrate from there.”

From Bride, Casey:

What advice would you give other couples about the wedding planning process?

“Take your time and make it YOUR day. We made sure that we had the day that was the most us it could be. Rest, drink water, and take in the day. It’s the best day of your life, and you have to slow down enough to enjoy it!”

Is there any advice that you would give engaged couples about married life?

“Remember to make time for your friends as individuals! You’ll always have your partner to come home to, so make sure to take time out to call and hang out with friends without your partner around so that they know you’re still around as yourself as well as with your partner. Support systems are so important!”
